INTERVIEW AT FANZINE

NOTES ON GLORY HOLE

I follow everyone out of the elevator and up to the roof. We're all of us sitting on real grass next to a pool. There are trees and everything. It's a miracle, really. I get overly aware of my brain as an apparatus, like a pair of binoculars. I'm wearing jeans and shoes with socks. Everybody else seems fully integrated. Why would I text you this. I'm standing at the rail and pretty sure it's the most panoramic thing I've ever seen. There's this whole other world made entirely of rooftops like a city built on the ruins of another city. Anybody not on a rooftop is living in the past. I see 4 or 5 people dancing like assholes like a hundred yards away but there's no music or else the music is just this sense of being a part of the sky and therefore everything. Somebody suggests going to an actual club. Ideally I've alluded to some mystery illness earlier so I can make reference to it now and bail. Instead I'm going to have to live life and fuck everybody I know in the face.

NOTES ON THE HOT TUB

I’m with 4 or 5 people on an elevator with a glass door overlooking the entire ocean that hovers above a ruined city like an Egyptian stela carved into the wall of the air. I’m wearing Surface To Air denim patent leather Florsheims. Everybody else looks dimpled. I think I shouldn’t text you this. I text you this. Standing on the rail looking at a panoramic plaque with 3 girls I picked up at Wasteland. I did them both not 5 minutes ago with Rick in the changing room. Jenny Kayne shorts, Body Glove t-shirt. Came hard on her extensions. I’m thinking this as I step off the elevator into a crowd of minaret dancers faux-banging each other on the marble floor between a circular glass buffet. It’s not an actual club but I hang around until Marla beeps me. Marla beeps me. I call her back from a payphone on the hotel balcony. Tell her I saw 5 blondes peel a banana backwards from the foot of my satin sheets. I tell her I’m a part of this. Are you a part of this.
